our freindly green man
He is really popular and you can buy any amount of souvenirs of him. Unfortunately for pedestrians the green man does not provide exclusive use of the road you want to cross but only priority.
Germany is not as "classless" as we are lead to beleive, just the categories are different- in this case drivers first second and third and then pedestrians.

lotta bottle
Its Whitsun! It's a tradition that hundreds of "goths" gather in Leipzig for the weekend. Not all are as colourful as this young lady but most are interestingly dressed.

Centre of the town?
If you look at a map of Leipzig you find a huge swathe of green right through the middle. Actually the built-up area could be said to be Leipzig town on the right bank of the Elsterbecken and Plagwitz town on the left bank. When you travel over the bridges in a tram (cars are too low) you get a real sense of space and fresh air.

garden idyll
I was first attracted to this rather charming but not very "German" garden because it shows a love and appeciation of the flowers and not just "tidyness".
Then I noticed the demo sign campaigning against nighttime flights. Leipzig is a hub for DHL who settled here just because the town allows them to takeoff at night. The roar of the machines can really be heard from a great distance at night when it is normally very silent.
